The minimum participating age for chimpanzee trekking as determined by TANAPA is 12 years old in Mahale Mountains National Park.

Safari Plan
Monday: After breakfast in Arusha, you will take a flight to Mahale Airstrip, enjoying aerial views of Tanzania’s landscapes. Upon arrival at Mahale, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Mbalimbali Mahale Lodge. The transfer to the lodge is a scenic 2 hour boat ride across the beautiful Lake Tanganyika, allowing you to enjoy the stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. After arriving at the lodge, check-in and enjoy a hot lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on a birding walk and a forest trek. Mahale is rich in wildlife and bird species, and the forests are a great place to spot a variety of birds, plants, and wildlife. After your afternoon walk, return to the lodge for a relaxing dinner. The lodge offers great views and a peaceful atmosphere to unwind after the day’s activities. Overnight stay at Mbalimbali Mahale Lodge on a Full Board Basis (Lunch & Dinner).
After breakfast, set out for your morning chimpanzee trekking. Mahale is renowned for its chimpanzee population, and your trek will take you deep into the forest to see these fascinating primates in their natural habitat. Your guide will ensure you have a safe and informative experience while observing the chimps and learning about their behavior. After the trek, return to the lodge for a hot lunch. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. You may choose to relax at the lodge, swim in the lake, or explore the area further at your own pace. End the day with a delicious dinner at the lodge, followed by a peaceful evening. Stay overnight at Mbalimbali Mahale Lodge on a Full Board Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
After breakfast, head out for another morning chimpanzee trekking session. This gives you another opportunity to observe the chimpanzees and enjoy the beauty of the forest while searching for these amazing creatures. After your trek, enjoy a hot lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The boat ride. It’s a peaceful way to explore the region and enjoy the stunning surroundings. Return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening by the lake. Overnight at Mbalimbali Mahale Lodge on a Full Board Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Thurdays: Fly from Mahale Airstrip to Arusha Airport : Flight Duration 4 hr
After breakfast, transferred by boat back to Mahale Airstrip for your chartered flight back to Arusha. You will have a light lunch before your flight back and conclude in Arusha
